“ What the hell were you thinking?” Camerota asked him, a sentiment clearly shared by Kelly, who opened the segment by noting that Gladwell had joked that Toobin had been cancelled for “failing to follow Catholic doctrine.” CNN brought him back on the air in June with an awkward and cringetastic interview segment with Alisyn Camerota. Toobin said that he thought the camera was off and muted and apologized, but lost his job at the magazine and was placed on leave as a CNN legal analyst. Toobin was fired from the New Yorker magazine after an incident during a Zoom conference call with his colleagues in which he was caught engaging in some, well, personal time during a break. Or this guy, who forgot to hang up from a work meeting and wandered around in his boxer shorts in front of his co-workers. Like the young woman who accidentally went to the bathroom in front of her Zoom class. But when there is no physical separation between home and the office, potential humiliation is just one absent thought away. Trying to retain some kind of separation between home and working life has been a consistent challenge for everyone working from home over the last 11 months.
